Farmhouse Cheddar

Supermarkets are increasingly helping consumers to identify their favourite cheeses by including the name of the farm or dairy from which the cheeses came. This is particularly so in the case with Farmhouse Cheddar makers where some 9 individual farms are licensed to use the Protected Designation of Origin - "West Country Farmhouse Cheddar" on some or all of the Cheddar they make.

Farms authorised to use the name are as follows:

Alvis Brothers

Ashley Chase Estate

AJ & RG Barber

Batch Farm Cheesemakers

Brue Valley

Parkham Farms

Quickes Cheddar

Westcombe Dairy
